About Green Sense /

Greens Sense designs projects of different sizes, each with a different personality that can be categorized into three separate groups. Each build is a properly designed, stable, and living ecosystem that replicates many of the processes found in nature.

Extensive green roofs are generally lighter in weight and can hold 10 to 25 pounds of vegetation per square foot. Due to shallow soils and the drastic environments that roofs face, plants used on extensive roofs are typically low growing ground covers that are extremely sun and drought tolerant.

Intensive roofs support 80 to 150 pounds of vegetation per square foot. We characterize these by their thick soil depths, heavy weights and elaborate plantings that include shrubs and trees.

Semi-intensive roofs lie in between, allowing a greater planting depth for larger growing plants.

As each roof requires a different amount of maintenance, Green Sense ensures the care of each design in order to sustain their aesthetic appearance, and work alongside each client to achieve their individual performance goals.
